Retro Kingston

{the journey}

Here's our visual depiction of the transformation:

{concept}

Retro and funky was the inspiration for this room! I sat down with my son Kingston (my youngest son, a little designer in the making) while he imagined the theme for this room based on his favorite color combo: aqua and orange. He incorporated fun elements in the complimentary palette, while adding bold light fixtures in chrome.

{before}

{process}

Since we decided to paint the entire floor of this room, we began the process by removing everything from the room into the hallway, prep-cleaned the floor, painted the floor with a color called Provence in chalk paint , and finished by lacquering.

We replaced the beds with two Modern Twin Canopy Beds with Velvet Curtains to give height to the space. The old light fixture was replaced with a Chrome Sputnik Chandelier. We updated the vintage dresser by removing the mirror and painting it, turning it into a Retro Painted Dresser with a Wall Stripe Detail. We installed a Mod Aqua Armchair in the reading corner, and artistic details like Jeff Koons Balloon Dog Sculpture Decor, Vintage Mexican Falsa Blanket Pillows, and a Orange Globe Nightlight were added to the room. For the final touch a Bob Dylan Typography Quote Art was hung above each of the beds.

Fun fact: this was the first room on the property we completely finished from beginning to end!

{after}

The gorgeous images Krisztina Crane captured:

This room is fresh + youthful and suitable for all ages of travelers. It's the only room with two twin sized beds so it makes a nice sibling or companion space.

Follow along next week to see the next transformation! We hope you enjoy seeing the Before and After pics as much as we do. Come visit us to experience the vibe yourself.

Thank you for reading,

Azie
