Setting the mood of your space

We were recently hired for a local art wall job in Montclair at The Bar Method. The lovely owners are {verdigreen} customers and we chatted about updating their space to reflect their aesthetic. They wanted to freshen up the vibe to match the mood they are trying to set in their space when their clients come in for their daily workout.

The wall was originally painted a moody Merlot hue and with the grasscloth wallpaper, industrial pipe details, and loft-space, we felt shades of rich warm grey would be more fitting. We didn’t want to go wholly warehouse-y so I proposed the use of iridescent raised stenciling to give a femme touch. For this we used Pearl Plaster to highlight Artisan Enhancement’s VP Antico & Fine Stone pushed through a non-symmetrically repeated stencil. Below the stenciling we have a seamless blending of custom Chalk Paint® colors using Annie Sloan’s Paris Grey, French Linen, Graphite, and Pure White. I call this finish “galaxy ombre” – it is meant to appear cloudy & organic at the blend line.

We are really loving how the chandelier now looks more at home there and how the ambience is calm and relevant. We loved hearing all the comments from the ladies leaving their exercise classes, also! Colors and finishes matter in your space – they set the mood & tell your body how to feel.
